Asked for extra insurance deposit on water slide rental

I was trying to rent a water slide and found someone through a number, (314) 966-7563. They asked for money upfront which I paid, $250. Then after that they came back and asked for more money as an insurance deposit in case the slide got damaged.

It didn't make sense to me because I already paid them. I never got the slide and no one showed up. I just kept getting asked for more money. I lost the $250 I sent them and never heard anything else after I said I wasn't paying more.
