Fake job offer for personal assistant with bogus checks

I saw a job listing for a personal assistant through Adecco, a local temp service. They sent me a fake offer and a bogus check from a New York address, New Jersey bank, but it came FedEx from Texas for $2,864.24. The check was for buying and sending gift cards and to the American Cancer Society.

The next two checks came UPS for the same duties, $4,850.24 and $4,850. That's when the first check bounced. Bank presented it twice, no good. The other two were returned stamped FRAUD from the New Jersey bank.

I sent three nasty texts to (442) 230-9209 with no reply. What's really weird, when I GPS tracked this phone number it showed up as local even with the California area code. The phone allegedly was at Parker High School in Janesville WI and several rural Town of Beloit and Town of Janesville addresses. Is this some high school kids scamming people?
