Someone called pretending to be Am Express about a declined transaction

I got a call from someone saying they were with Am Express. They told me a transaction was declined because it was for firearms. The thing is I never had an Amex card. They had my maiden name and said the application date was from when I was out of the country.

The agent said his name was John Hayes and he had a strong accent from Asia. He gave me an ID number AMX22-23-128. Then he said he was going to transfer me to the FBI through them. That made no sense to me so I looked up the number and found someone else went through the same thing. I hung up.

They keep calling back but I won't answer. I'm going to call the sheriff or police.
