Fake Apple Pay charge email asking me to call

Got an email that looked like it was from Apple saying my Apple ID was used for a payment of $242.43 through Apple Pay. It said the transaction was completed on August 11, 2026 at 6:30 AM. I never made that purchase.

The email had a transaction ID and everything, looked pretty real at first. It said to reply YES if I authorized it, or call this number +1(888) 479-2550 to talk to their Security Team. It also said they tried calling me before about this charge.

I didn't call the number because something felt off. I don't think this is really from Apple. Just wanted to report this so others know.
