Phone call about AT&T discount turned into gift card request

I got a call from (800) 294-5018. The person said they were with the AT&T promotional division. They told me my account discount was going to be switched to a traditional mobile plan. But they said they could offer me a deal through Apple instead.

I had to pay 6 months in advance and then get 50% off for the next 4 years. Seemed like a good deal at the time. They said I needed to buy an Apple gift card for the amount and then give them the info over the phone so they could apply it to my account. I did it. Lost 420 dollars on that. Now I realize it wasn't AT&T at all. They even sent an email from [email protected]. I feel stupid for falling for it.
