Call claiming I applied for a Bank of America card

A guy named Chris Martin called me from Bank of America about an application that I never did. I didn't give anybody permission to use my name or my Social Security or my phone number for anything like that. He said he was from Bank of America and then he patched me over to the consumer financial protection bureau.

They started telling me someone stole my identity and that Experian was involved too. At that point I just didn't believe any of it anymore. So I hung up.

I'm just trying to figure out if I should report this somewhere or try calling Bank of America myself. But that's going to be a headache trying to find the right number to follow up on this.
