Call about paying off my mother's debt turned out to be phishing

My mother got a call from someone saying he was from Card Member Services. His name was Ben Jackson. He told her he could pay off all her debt, around $26,000. She gave him her card numbers and email address.

I overheard the call after she had been on the phone for over an hour. The guy got really combative when I started asking questions. I asked where he was calling from and he said Denver, CO. But then he gave the wrong time for Colorado. That didn't make sense.

Now my mom has to freeze her credit and order all new credit cards. The phone number was (860) 988-8594.
