Job offer asked for my bank info before I even started
They said they would mail me a check to buy equipment like a MacBook and monitor. When I asked about benefits and who my supervisor would be, they said I would get that info after I bought the stuff and set up my office. Then I got a text from someone named Lana Smith, the "onboarding manager," asking what bank I use so they could send an electronic check for me to deposit in my mobile app. That just didn't sit right with me. I never gave them that info.

I even emailed the founder to make sure everything was legit, and got an email response saying it was. So I signed the offer letter. They said they would be sending me a check in the mail to cover the cost of buying equipment like a MacBook, external monitor, and hard drive. When I asked about benefits and my supervisor's contact, they said I would get that info after I purchased the equipment and set up my office.
Then they texted me as Lana Smith, the "onboarding manager," asking for the name of my banking institution so they could send me an electronic check to deposit in my bank's mobile app. That didn't make sense to me, so I stopped responding.
