Text pretending to be from Colorado Secretary of State

My client got a text that looked like it came from the Colorado Secretary of State about filing their annual periodic report. The website looked just like the real one so we went ahead and paid the $150 fee.

After I finished the transaction they never emailed a receipt. I went to search on the actual CO SOS website and found our periodic report had already been filed back in June 2026, on time. The real fee was only $25.

So nothing was even due and the price was ridiculous.
