Job offer check bounced and left my account negative

I applied for a part time remote job that was supposed to provide equipment for the position. They contacted me and sent an offer letter. A representative from DC Medical Joint Research Centre told me a check for $500 was sent to my email. They said I should deposit it into my bank account, withdraw the money, and send it via CashApp so they could buy my equipment.

I did what they said and it caused a -$500 on my bank account. The check bounced obviously. I reached out to CashApp and they were very helpful and returned the money to me. It went back to my bank account.

This was a scam and I should have seen the red flags when they sent the check to my email. I am just glad I got my funds back. I'll be more careful from now on.
