Doorbell rang about chimney problem then wanted thousands in cash

Someone rang my doorbell and told me there was a problem with my chimney. He said he could fix it for $80 cash. I let him take a look and then he told me his name was Mark. After inspecting it he said it needed more work and he could do it for $2000 cash. He also said he could extend the life of my roof for $3200 cash and give me a certificate.

From his accent I could tell he was British and he confirmed it when we talked. No work was ever done. Later I found out Fox Contractors doesn't have an Ontario business licence and their website doesn't have a real address on it. Just says 58 Racine which looks like it's in Casselman or Cornwall.

After that someone posted on Nextdoor warning that Fox Contractors is a scam company run by Mark Bell. I also found out someone in the area paid a lot of cash for chimney and roofing work and it was done really poorly. Their phone number is 1(888) 412-3421 and the website is foxcontractors.ca. Email is [email protected].
