Home Depot referred a contractor who took my money and vanished

I found this local pro through Home Depot’s own referral program. The job was simple – install railings in my backyard. Ali came out, took measurements, and told me he needed a deposit to custom order the railings. Seemed normal at the time.

I paid him $2,350. That was the last time I saw him. He never showed up to do the install, and now he won’t answer my calls or texts. Nothing. Home Depot says they can’t reach him either, but they won’t take any responsibility for it. That feels really wrong and unfair. They sent me to him.
