Investment deal for Cambodia gems left me with fake checks

I got involved with this person through email, [email protected]. They told me I needed to send money from my Am Ex to Venmo to help pay for the gems they were bringing back from Cambodia. It sounded like a real investment opportunity.

The gems were supposedly brought back, but I never got any real money for them. Instead, I was only paid with bogus checks that had other people's identities on them. I lost $12,000 total in this. The phone number they used was (404) 994-2553 and they are based in Orlando, FL. I just feel like an [censored] for falling for it.
