Remote job offer turned into a fake check situation
So I called my bank to let them know what was going on. They sent me a check from MemeHouse Productions for $4950 and I deposited it. It cleared fine. But then the next day Daryl, the hiring manager, texted me from (332) 283-0821 asking for my venmo and cashapp info to give to the vendors. That felt off to me.
I put the phone number into chat gpt to see what came up and there was a fraud report on Ecautious.com from August 10th. I called my bank right away and they reversed the check. I didn't lose any money but it was stressful. The address they used was 468 N Camden Dr, Floor 2, Beverly Hills, CA 90210.
