Paid $317 for a Pokemon card and got an empty package

I bought a high-end Pokemon card from a seller named C.A.D on Mercari. When the package showed up it was completely empty. I contacted Mercari and they did nothing for me, just kept referring me to USPS over and over.

Later the seller started getting a bunch of similar reports and reviews from other people saying they got scammed too. Mercari eventually removed the seller's account because of it. But they still refused to side with me and give me my money back.

I'm still out $317.08. They removed the guy for scamming people but won't refund me. Makes no sense.
