Email from a recruiter about a remote job that turned out fake
On Teams, she introduced herself and gave me the company website. Then she did an instant text interview. She told me to check back the next morning for an update. When I did, she said I was hired and that they would send me a check to buy software and office equipment from an approved vendor. The check came through FedEx on the third day.
Something felt off so I used ChatGPT to look into it. I called the number on the official company website and they told me the job does not exist and the whole thing was a scam.
