Letter about old debt with no real business behind it

I got a call from (507) 322-1929 saying my credit report from 2007-2015 got flagged in some audit for rent-a-center. They said I have a past due account in collections and it's still valid because rent-a-center uses a tolling agreement in their contract so the statute of limitations doesn't apply. They claimed letters were sent but I never got them. Then they said an officer would be delivering a court summons if I didn't pay the settlement amount that same day.

They had my name, my current address, my SSN, and even listed the car I just bought as an asset. That really freaked me out.

I tried to check the address they gave me - 777 S Figueroa st, Los Angeles, CA 90017 - and the building has no record of that business. I searched the California registry and the name doesn't exist. Their phone numbers are VOIP, not tied to any company. The email they sent stuff from, [email protected], has been flagged in other scams.

When I asked for more info they refused to give anything beyond what was in the email letter.
