Job offer for remote assistant seemed off from the start

I’m not sure how they first reached out to me, but this person was pretending to be from a construction company. The job was for a remote virtual assistant. They asked for personal info and I gave some of it, which I regret now. I got hired really fast, which felt weird because there was no real interview or any questions about my skills.

Two days after they contacted me, they sent me a suspicious amount of money to pay their bills. I looked it up to see if that was normal for a new hire to do, and it’s definitely not. I’m just hoping this helps someone else avoid getting pulled into this mess before it gets worse.
