Caller said he was Santander asking for my social

I got a call from 1(877) 768-2265 and the guy said he was from Santander. He had a male voice. He asked if I made a purchase online to some company in Florida. I told him no. Then he asked if I made any online purchases at all and I said yes. After that he made it sound like a big deal, like identity theft or something.

Then he wanted to verify my birthday, so I gave him the month and year. Then he asked for my social but I said no. He said if I didn't want to say it out loud he could set up another way or transfer me. I just hung up so I could check the number myself.
