Paid fake medical bill from Select Administrative Solutions

My wife got a call from a woman named Maria who said she was from Select Administrative Solutions. She was talking about some unpaid medical bill from Medical Diagnostic Labs. She sounded real and the bill was from about 2 years ago which matched up with when my wife had been in the hospital.

We talked for a while and she was very convincing. She even transferred us to her supervisor Jacob. We ended up paying what they said we owed, like 639 dollars, just so it wouldn't go on our credit. After we paid with our credit card we tried calling Medical Diagnostic Labs to confirm everything was good. Took a few tries before we got someone on the line.

The lady at the lab said Select Administrative Solutions is not a real company and they have gotten a lot of complaints about them. She said we didn't owe anything. We got the credit card payment canceled and the charge reversed.
