Job offer saying I had to buy my own equipment

I was approached to interview for a job and then they offered me the job with an offer letter. But then they told me I would need to purchase my own equipment when they sent me the funds. It was all through their website solvynexenergy.com and the email [email protected]. The address just says NY, USA. I didn't lose any money but it felt off that I had to buy equipment with money they were supposedly sending me first.
