Email about a job interview then money came out of my account

I got an email about a job interview. We talked on Teams and I told them I wanted direct deposit. The paperwork looked legit. Next thing I know there's a payment of $32.00 taken out of my checking account. They told me it was done by mistake and I would get reimbursed. Said they were sending me a check.

They kept telling me I had to deposit it through the ATM. The package that showed up was checks they ordered without my permission. It was for a bank I don't even use. I called the bank listed on the check and the info was for one of their clients. They're going to let their client know their account was compromised.

Us job seekers need to look out for each other. If you're a victim don't be embarrassed. Report them.
