Call saying I had a credit card application in Texas

Got a call from this number (312) 325-8950 and the guy said he was checking on a credit card application and needed to verify my info. Said the application was opened in Texas and had my previous address listed. I asked him to verify who he was first and he just said he'd call me back.

I didn't give them anything obviously. Then I called US Bancorp myself to see what was going on and they told me there was no application on file for me at all. So this was just someone fishing for information. The number is from Chicago area but the guy was talking about Texas which didn't make sense. Just wanted to put this out there so others know.
