Job offer said I needed to buy $200 software first

I was talking to someone about a job and they told me I needed to get some software from the vendor so they could preload it on the laptop. They said it would cost $200 and that I would get reimbursed back for the purchase.

I told them I dont have that at all. I said it twice because I really dont have it.

Then they asked how much I currently have available and said they could speak with the vendor about how I'll be able to purchase the software. That just felt off to me. Why would I need to buy my own software for a job and then hope to get paid back. I stopped responding after that.
