Apartment ad on TikTok took my $250 application fee

I saw this video on TikTok advertising an apartment for rent, and it had a phone number so I called the guy. He seemed normal at first. He sent me a link to fill out an application form and said I needed to pay $250 for it. He told me it was refundable if I didn’t end up liking the place.

After I paid, he kept asking for more money. I told him I wanted to see the apartment first before giving anything else. He couldn’t show it to me. That’s when I started feeling weird about it. I asked for my money back and he just blocked me. Now he won’t answer my calls or my messages.

I’m out $250 and I never even saw the place. The number he used was (862) 236-9361 and his email is [email protected].
