Had to pay customs fee before package delivery

I was supposed to get a package and they told me I had to send money first for some customs fee in Brazil. The email came from [email protected]. They said it was required before anything could move.

I sent the $1100 like they asked. After that, nothing. No package, no updates, no replies to my emails. It just went silent.

I feel stupid for falling for it. I thought it was part of the process. But now I'm out that money and have nothing to show for it.
