Phone call about a credit card I never opened

Got a call from this number 1(240) 468-7609. The guy said he was from some protection agency for Visa and Mastercard. He told me someone opened a credit card in my name.

Then he started asking for the expiration dates on my credit cards. Sounded real official but something felt off. I didn't give him anything. He was calling from Silver Springs, MD. I hung up after that. No money lost but it was weird.
