They called saying legal documents and threatened court if I didn’t pay

I got a call from these people saying they were trying to deliver legal documents to my house. They said if I didn’t pay them they would take me to court and put a judgement on my credit report. It sounded really serious so I agreed to a settlement amount of $3429.86. They said the original amount was $6,384.27 from Stockton Finance.

I ended up paying them $857.46 so far. But then I thought to call the original creditor to check and they said they had no information because the company was sold. That didn’t make sense to me. Now I’m not sure if this whole thing is even real. Their phone is (619) 768-1524 and they have a website akilalawgroup.eversign.com and an email [email protected]. They gave an address at 1045 India St in San Diego.
