Phone call about a debt with no proof given

I got a call from someone named Alan Hoffman. He said he was contacting me about some matter they were retained to handle, attached to my name. Said they got it that day and a client wanted a recommendation by June 17th. He gave me a few business days to call them back at 877-428-1881 if I wanted to gather info or submit a statement.

I have no idea what this is about. No company name was given, no proof of any debt. Just a voicemail saying I need to call back before next Wednesday or something. It felt strange, like a debt collector trying to scare me. I didn't lose any money but I'm not calling that number without knowing who they really are.
