TikTok sponsored video for hurt cat turned out to be a scam

I saw a TikTok sponsored video, it was advertising a fundraiser for a cat who got attacked by a dog. It looked real so I donated $25. After I donated I found out it was false. The scammer was using photos of a different cat who just had a genetic mutation, not hurt by any dog.

There are multiple people on TikTok using this same fake story to scam people into donating for veterinary care. The website was angelpawsfund.org and the email was [email protected]. I feel stupid for falling for it.

Facebook post about injured dog surgery turned out to be a scam

I saw this post on Facebook about an injured animal that needed surgery. It was from Angel Paws Fund and they had a TikTok too. The story got me, I felt bad and sent $25 through their website at angelpawsfund.org. I also emailed them at [email protected].

Then I did a reverse image search on the picture of the injured animal they were using. Turns out the photo was stolen from some real person's social media from back in 2022. I found a Reddit thread where other people were talking about the same thing. It's run by someone named Christian Lucero. Just a fake charity.
