Got a fake text about an Apria bill from a strange number

I got a text saying it was from Apria healthcare. It came from (855) 970-8980. The message told me to call 833-641-6706 to set up a payment for a $631.00 balance.

But I'm a new customer with Apria. I knew that wasn't their real number. So I called the official Apria line to check. They told me my balance is actually $0.

This is really concerning. It feels like my contact information might have been sold or shared somehow. Why would a scammer have my info and know I use Apria?

Got fake payment texts pretending to be from Apria

I'm an Apria Healthcare customer and I always pay my balance through their website portal. So I knew something was wrong when I got three random texts from 855-970-8980. They were asking me to pay $84.21, $84.90, and $255.27 by calling some number, 833-641-6706.

That couldn't be right. My balances are never that high, they're always between $25 and $45. It felt off. I didn't call the number they gave, it just didn't make sense.
