Got a fake sweepstakes letter about winning $750,000

I got a letter saying my mother won a sweepstakes for $750,000. They included a check for $9950, saying it was to help pay taxes and fees. The letter said to contact a claims agent named Michael Smith at 1-315-307-7951 and that we only had five days. It also said to keep it confidential.

I know this is a scam because I've gotten calls for years with voicemails telling me to contact the same Michael Smith about some fake debt I supposedly owe. I don't owe any past debts. The check they sent looks like it's from Lemonade Insurance Company at 5 Crosby Street, 3rd floor, New York, NY 10013, and it's drawn on American Community Bank. The envelope it came in was from ARB Interactive, PO Box 2807, New York, NY 10019.

I tore up the check and didn't contact them. I just want people to know this is happening. They're targeting elderly people.
