Someone on Autotrader got me to pay for a VIN report and then disappeared

I was selling my car on Autotrader and someone contacted me about it. They asked a bunch of questions that seemed smart so I thought they were legit. They kept pushing me to get more info on the car using VINPEEK.US. I told them I already had a Carfax attached to my ad and thought that would be enough but I don't sell cars a lot so I didn't know.

I ended up paying $5 for some service to get more info and sent it to [email protected]. Then they said they would understand the report better if I used VINPEEK.US instead and said they would pay me back for it if we did the deal. So I bought the $39.99 report and sent it to them. I checked back a day later and their account was deleted and the email doesn't work.

I know it's not a ton of money but I feel stupid. I guess there is a scam for everything now.
