Job offer to wrap my car turned into a strange check situation
Inside was a letter with instructions and a check for $3,749.22. They said part of the money was supposed to go to a third party to actually do the wrapping. The envelope came from North Carolina, from something called Schaeffler Group USA, Inc. But the check itself was from a company in Irvine, CA and it says it's drawn on a bank in Newport Beach. The letter told me to deposit the check and then immediately contact this person so they could approve the payment.
I'm pretty sure if I deposited that check, my bank would reject it and then I'd have a frozen account and a big headache. Never did get the car wrapped. Just felt wrong from the start.
