Wire transferred $46,039 for a truck that wasn't real

A customer called in last Friday asking about a wire transfer. He said he found a truck online and it seemed like a really good deal. He told me he had been talking to the same salesperson at the dealership for a few days.

I told him I would need the wire transfer instructions and a bill of sale first. He provided all that stuff and we went ahead with the wire for $46,039.00. The money came out of his savings account.

He just called me back saying he thinks he got scammed. The truck isn't legit. I'm a personal banker and I feel terrible about this.
