Paid for a dog delivery that kept asking for more money

I was supposed to get a dog delivered from someone I met on Facebook. I think they're working with CargoVerve.online. First, they wanted money for a cage. Then it was for pet insurance. It just kept going.

They got the dog from Arizona and were supposed to drop it off to me in California. But then they said it was unsafe to travel at night with the dog. The next day I find out the dog is in Virginia. And they wanted more money. I refused.

I made a report with the police. The officer even asked me to call them so he could talk to them. The person on the phone said yes she paid but I'm still waiting, and then no answer. Then he started acting like we couldn't hear him. The officer told me they are scamming me. I'm out $1100.
