Got a text saying I won part of a stranger's lottery prize

I just got this random text message. It says it's from some guy in Quincy who won the Powerball. He says he's giving away a million dollars to random people and my number was selected.

The text tells me to contact the "managing director agent," someone named Charles Woodley at +1 (601) 283-0140. I'm supposed to text him with a claimant code they gave me, LS450$. It all feels really off. I never signed up for anything like this. Why would a total stranger text me to give me money? It doesn't make any sense. I didn't reply or anything, but I wanted to report getting this message.

Got a weird text about winning money from a stranger

I got this text message on March 2nd around 9:37 at night. It said hello from a Richard Lavery, some guy from North Quincy who won a Powerball prize. He said he's giving away a million dollars to random people and my number was selected.

The text told me to contact a managing director agent named Charles Woodley at +1 (601) 283-0140. I was supposed to text him with a claimant code GL45$ to confirm my winnings. It all felt off. I never signed up for anything like this.

I'm just putting this out there so maybe someone else sees it and doesn't get tricked. It came from the phone number (213) 670-3455.
