Phone calls about a fraud dispute that Chase says never existed

Someone called me from (888) 373-1969 saying I needed to call them back about a dispute of fraud. They had a heavy Indian accent. They called on 6/17 around 8am est and then again today 6/18 at 8:30am est.

I called Chase directly and they told me they didn’t have any open disputes for me and that this was more than likely fraud. So I don’t know who these people are or what they wanted.

Man called to verify a check I already wrote

A man called my cell phone saying he needed to verify that a check I wrote to a family member for $500 was legit. He had an accent and English sounded like his second language. He asked me to verify my name and zip code that’s on the check. I thought that was strange.

My family member banks with Chase and they deposited the check through mobile deposit. The check already cleared so why would Chase call after the fact to check if it was real? The whole thing felt fishy.

My family member did get the money eventually but something still seems off about it.
