Call claiming to be Citibank about credit card and firearms

I got a call from a woman with a heavy accent who said she was with Citibank. The number showed up as Buffalo, NY but I really doubt that's where she actually was. She told me someone tried to use my information to get a credit card and buy firearms. She mentioned some card ending numbers but it wasn't even a Citibank card.

Then she tried to confirm my address, but it was a place I haven't lived in almost 15 years. That's when I just hung up. I'm glad I saw other people describing the same thing or I might have wondered if it was real.

Check written on my account after I called about a Macy card

I called Citibank about a Macy credit card because I was questioning a credit that was owed to me. Somehow after that call a check got written on my checking account. I never wrote any check and I never authorized anything like that.

I was just trying to ask about the credit on the Macy card. Next thing I know there's a check coming out of my checking account. It was $99.84. I don't know how this happened from a phone call about a credit I was asking about.

I need someone to look into this. I did not write that check and I did not approve it.

Call claiming my Citibank account was flagged for a firearms purchase

I got a call from a lady who said she worked for Citibank. She told me my account was flagged for an online purchase. She didn't give me any other details except that it was flagged because the purchase was for firearms and she wanted to know if I had bought firearms recently.

I said no I have not, please block it. She said she couldn't block it and that she needed to go over next steps. That's when I said no worries, I'll call the bank directly and you're probably fraud, and I hung up.

Phone call claiming to be Citibank about an unauthorized transaction

I got a call the other day from this number (646) 595-6538. The message said “Hello, this is Citibank. We have identified a transaction that may not have been authorized by you and is currently being processed. To help safeguard your account, please press 9 to be connected to a customer service representative.” It repeated the same thing twice.

I don’t even have a Citibank account. I didn’t lose any money but it felt strange. They didn’t leave a company name or anything else, just that recorded message. I hung up.

Text from Morocco saying my Citibank account got hacked

Got a text from +212 7 76 75 62 66 saying someone in Paris hacked my Citibank account. Told me to call 888-569-9187. So I called and asked them why I got a text from Morocco and they just hung up on me. Didn't even say anything just hung up. I didn't lose any money but it felt off.

Got a scam call pretending to be from Citibank about a fake charge.

I got a call from someone saying she was Diana Wilson from Citibank. The number was (646) 287-8510. She said she was calling about a charge for $3,900 on a Citibank card and needed to verify if it was me "for the protection of my account."

I wouldn't confirm anything, not even who I was. She just kept asking the same questions in different ways for several minutes. It felt really off, so I just hung up.

I looked up the phone number after and saw it's been identified as a scam. The call was coming from New York, NY. The whole thing was just a fake call trying to get my information.
