Voicemail from City Financial asking me to call back

I got a call the other day and didn't answer. They left a voicemail saying "This is city financial. Please kindly return our call using the number provided to you on the caller ID or by calling 877-245-7020 to be connected with the representative who can further assist you. Again, this is city financial. Thank you and have a great day."

That's it. No name of who was calling, no reason why they were calling. Just that generic message. The caller ID showed (442) 223-5827 and when I looked it up it seems to be from Newberry Springs, CA. I have no idea what this is about. I never gave them my number and I don't owe anything to any "City Financial" that I know of. I didn't call back because it just felt off.

Got a scary call about a fake debt from "City Financial"

I got a message through my husband's work email saying they needed to talk about something urgent. He called the number they gave, (833) 795-5753. They asked for his name and phone number, then said our address back to us, so it seemed real at first.

They said we owed money to "City Financial" and that they were a third-party company collecting it. They called it a "forceful recovery" and threatened a 30% wage garnishment. They said they'd file charges for Theft by Deception and other things if we didn't pay. They claimed our last payment was March 22, 2022.

We checked our bank records. The only payment we made on that date was to Citizens Pay for our Vivint equipment, and they confirmed our balance was zero. We also had a Best Buy Citi card, but that was paid off too. When we tried to call them back to ask for a debt verification letter, they just got verbally abusive. This is definitely a scam.
