Interview on Teams then asked to print and cash a check from email

I got interviewed by someone from Claritev Corporation on Microsoft Teams. After I gave them my address info, they said they were going to send me office equipment. Then the person told me they'd send a $500 sign-on bonus to my email in a PDF file. They said I needed to print it out and go cash it.

That whole thing felt off to me. Sending a bonus as a PDF to print and cash just didn't make any sense. I didn't lose any money, but the whole process was strange. They used the email [email protected].
