Paid for a vehicle history report from a website that seems fake

I was selling a used car on Facebook Marketplace. A potential buyer contacted me and insisted I get a vehicle history report from this one specific website, clearridehistory.com. They wouldn't accept a report from anywhere else. I went ahead and paid $79.99 on the site.

Afterward, I started looking into them. The phone number on their website doesn't work—it's different from the (501) 208-8006 number I have. Their email is [email protected]. They say they have an LLC, but I don't think it's actually registered. From what I can find, they're operating out of Pakistan. They probably run a bunch of these fake websites from the same place.

I'm pretty sure the person who messaged me on Facebook was part of the whole scam. I just don't get how it all works or why they'd do this. I fell for it and now I'm out the money.
