Called Expedia for help and got a fake customer service number instead

I was trying to call Expedia to change a flight. I looked up the number online and called it. The person who answered said they were from Expedia customer service. They sounded professional enough. They helped me with the change and then said there was a fee of $1000. I paid it. After that I realized I couldn’t get back through to them. I tried calling the number again and it went to a voicemail that didn’t sound right. I finally got ahold of the real Expedia and they said they never got my money. The number I called was (281) 602-2983 and they had a website called Click to Travel. Their email was [email protected]. They are based out of Texas. I lost $1000. I don’t know how they got their number to show up when I searched for Expedia but they did.
