Job offer on LinkedIn turned out to be a money laundering scheme
She said I needed to make a new bank account and also a new Venmo and PayPal account. That made me stop and think. I could tell she was getting annoyed. She asked for references right away on the call and through text. She also said she was sending the contract to fill out right after we talked.
I started filling out the W-9 but noticed it was asking for my Social Security number a bunch of times. So I Googled the company and found a Reddit thread where a guy posted a scam alert. He explained the whole process is money laundering and highly illegal, like creating gambling accounts for other people. The bank accounts would be accessible to others but your info gets traced back to you. I blocked all their texts and emails after that.

Something felt strange about the whole thing. They wanted a bunch of info right up front and it didn't seem right. I didn't give them anything and I didn't lose any money but I wanted to put this out there. Just dont sign up or give them any info. It's a scam.
