Paid a tax preparer who used Free Tax USA without a license

I paid Dave $500 to do my taxes. He said he was a tax professional. He did do them but he didn't use an ETIN number or anything. He just used Free Tax USA to process them. The taxes were done wrong.

If you don't know taxes like I didn't, you might not realize what he does leaves you on the hook for anything that goes wrong with the IRS. I was lucky someone told me before I got audited or hit with fraud penalties. I had to pay a real CPA $350 to fix everything. I had to send back the refund I got and pay what I actually owed.

Don't use Dave. Or if you do, expect to deal with whatever mess he leaves you.
