Phone call about charity for asylum seekers felt off

An acquaintance who is seeking asylum got a piece of paper with info about DAN or MSMA or DC Mutual Aid. She asked me to call and see if they were scammers or not.

So I called the number on the paper. A lady answered speaking Spanish. I told her I don’t speak Spanish and she switched to English right away. She sounded White Caucasian. I asked her to tell me a little more about what services they provide and how they got started. She got irate and started yelling at me to look at the website. But then she couldn’t remember the website address and started stuttering. I said it was weird she couldn’t tell me about an organization that’s supposed to help people and couldn’t remember the website. She hung up on me.

I probably should have stopped when she got mad.
