IT bot sent me to Daniel Martin about printer issue and charged hidden fees
I bought a new laptop and was having trouble printing with my wireless printer. An IT bot directed me to Daniel Martin about the printer issue. He said my IP address was not protected and there was a rootkit, so he needed remote support by sharing my computer. Then he sent me to another technician to clean it up and help me print.
It worked for a bit. But they told me the one-time fee was $199. Then they added more tech support prices that were pretty pricey. When I looked them up here I knew it was a scam. I declined their calls and notified my bank to close the card and claim the transaction as fraudulent so I can get my $299 back. Don’t be fooled.
