Paid to unlock my phone and now they want more money

I found this site DirectUnlocks.com that says they can unlock your phone from any carrier. First they charged me $24.95 just to check if it was eligible. Then they said it was eligible so I paid the $150.00 fee and they told me it would take 3-5 days to get the phone unlocked.

Today I got an email from them saying my carrier is asking for $267.00 more. They promise I can use my iPhone 16 Plus on any line after that but I already paid $175.00 total and this just feels like they keep asking for more. No phone unlock yet.
