Job interview text led to asking me to buy a phone

I got a text from a man named Dustin Thomas saying he wanted to interview me for a job. He had me download Microsoft Teams and we did the interview. Next day he contacted me saying I was chosen and they were sending me a computer and stuff.

But then he said I would have to go get a phone in my name and it had to be a 17 pro max. That sounded off to me. I went to Verizon and luckily the worker there looked the company up on this site and seen it was a scam. So I didn't lose any money but it was weird.
