Weird $2 charge then a blocked $40 charge from a site I never visited

I found a $2 charge on my checking account from somewhere I didn’t recognize. Then my bank texted me saying they flagged a $39.99 debit as fraud and blocked it. The bank said it came from a website called ekbread.com or ebkread.com, something about an ebook reading service.

I have never been on that website or signed up for anything like that. Never heard of it. My bank cancelled the digital card so no more charges could go through. But I still don’t know how they got my info or why that first $2 went through.
